Beep Beep Beep….Tap Tap Tap...the sound of a heart monitor beeping and the sound of typing is probably the only thing I can remember when I first woke up from my brain surgery. After that it was recovery time and I am very happy to say that my Mom,Dad and little sister was there to help out in my time of need. Throughout my childhood, my parents have always been encouraging me to do my best in everything, we went through some struggles with me not being the most athletic but as soon as fifth grade came, it had all clicked. The cool thing in fifth grade other than being the oldest kids in school is that all the students have to go through a scoliosis check. For most people this is probably the most awkward thing to do in front of a nurse and it was an embarrassing moment for me too, but this is when we noticed a …show more content…
As soon as we got there we found out through an MRI that I also have Chiari malformation and Syrinx. At first I wasn’t really sure what that meant, but the doctor had asked me questions and then as I answered them, I remember my mom starting to cry and then dad got emotional, this is when it hit me. I tried to smile my way through and be happy for my parents, but as the surgery day got closer I got very nervous, but as a loving mother my mom is she told me not to worry, it was just a small surgery and that there’s nothing to worry about. After the surgery I realized there was nothing to worry about its done now I can be happy with my family for the rest of the summer now. Soon after I got out of the hospital I still needed bed rest, so as i was relaxing on my bed with my new laptop, I realized how happy I was an that I haven’t been as chirpy as i was in a while. I got to thinking and had asked my mom what had shocked her the most about the surgery, for me it was probably when I just woke up to a lot of pain, but for her it was how I was able to handle this in a
