Timothy stood on the deck of SS Bartolina in the morning, as he was looking at St. Thomas in a distance. Timothy went to New York, France and back to New York in 7 months. Mr. Tanner, the chief mate wrote two notes for Timothy telling Tante Hannah and the way home. When he got back, he knew he changed when he returned from the island he was at for four years. Black smoke came up from the stack of the Bartolina, which was the first steamship Timothy ever boarded. Timothy bought Tante Hannah many gifts from where he traveled. He could not wait to see her face when Tante Hannah opened the gifts. When he almost was at Tante Hannah's home a woman was sitting there, but it was not Tante Hannah.
