Tanning Skin

Tanning beds give off UV lights or radiation. When your skin is exposed to UV rays, it is the reaction to make more melanin. This makes the skin darker. The two types of radiation that enter the skin is UVA and UVB rays. UVB hits the top of the skin and are more responsible for most sunburns. UVA rays mostly target deeper layers of the skin. They can cause allergic reactions, and rashes.
If you put the two rays together you can get skin cancer way faster. If you go to a tanning salon the lamps that they use give off both rays. Melanoma is considered the deadliest form of skin cancer. You can develop skin cancer really easy if you

Most can’t be seen by a normal human beings eye. UV rays are only one type of EM energy. All EM rays are made up of particles called photons that travel in a wave like pattern that can move at the speed of light. The three types of UV rays that come from the sun are, of course, UVA and UVB, but also UVC. UVA rays have the longest wavelength of the three.
When you are exposed to UVB it helps with your skin producing vitamin D. There are lots of ways to determine how much UV rays you are exposed to. These include altitude, weather conditions, geography, and more. The closer you are to the equator the stronger the UV rays. If you are in an area with snow, water, pavement, and sand your exposure to UV rays is greater. This is due to the properties having reflective surfaces.
Warning signs of skin cancer are as follows. Increases in skin size, abnormally shaped lumps or bumps. Spots that appear multi colored. Any sore that doesn't heal and then reopens. Random spots that grow and may hurt, itch, bleed, or scab. If you have a mole, it might change texture, change color, or is weirdly shaped and/ or suddenly begins growing

The formation of Melanin in our skin as a response to the exposure to the UV light is the protective mechanism. Melanin, while protecting our skin cells is also responsible for the dark pigment of our skin. It is the same mechanism that is released when we go suntanning. The exposure to the UV light causes the skin to release melatonin, giving us the " "golden glow" many of us are after. People, who live in the northern areas of the globe, further from the Equator where the atmosphere is thicker, shielding from the radiation, do not need as much Melanin in their skin.…

This is occurring because of the harsh UV rays created by the sun that Australians simply can’t escape without the proper protection against it, this is why it is important that we know the proper treatment and preventions of skin cancer. Australia receives the highest UV ratings out of any other county in the world. This is firstly because of our close proximity to the equator and how that majority of our days are a combination of a bright blue sky with no cloud cover and a hot burning sun, both these factors contribute to a high UV rating. High UV ratings is also secondly caused by the earth’s orbit, which when revolving the sun brings the southern hemisphere closer during summer then the northern…

However the main solution scientists and doctors have found for protecting eyes from developing cataracts, is wearing sunglasses. The light that the sun emits is called electromagnetic radiation. The radiation ranges from radio waves to gamma rays, and the three types of radiation that are dangerous to us are ultra-violet rays, x-rays, and gamma rays. However, for cataracts scientists are worried about UV light. This is the radiation that has slightly more energy than visible light, but is not visible, making humans susceptible to it and exposed (see Figure 1).…

UV-A plays an important role in the formation of Vitamin D and UV-C is absorbed in the atmosphere. “Overexposure to UV-B reduces size, productivity, and quality in many of the crop plant species that have been studied…”(Allen). Increased exposure to UV-B ras can be pressing issue involving human health as it affects photosynthesis (see Figure 1.1), destruction of DNA, and a factor in skin cancer.…
