Getting a tan is getting more popular with teens these days. One of the main reasons why teens, especially girls, is to look good in a dress for a special occasion, such as proms. Getting a tanned skin nowadays is no longer a cosmetic struggle. Despite medical warnings made about the risks of getting skin cancer. Still, a quite large number of people believe that getting a tanned skin not only makes them look and feel good but it also has health benefits such as healthier and stronger bones. Studies prove that a person constantly exposed to sunlight have sturdier and denser bones and is less likely to suffer from lack of vitamin D compared to people who lack exposure to direct sunlight. With traditional suntans, you will have to go to the beach or hang out by the pool in next to nothing and sit for hours. With indoor tanning salons, you get to sit in a private room and tan without the prying eyes of passer-bys or neighbours. This privacy means you can even tan without a suit to prevent tan lines. Try that at the beach and you will end up getting arrested or will at least wind up with a big ticket.

The third benefit of indoor tanning is that it is a good way to prevent sunburns. When you tan in a tanning booth, you can carefully meter your exposure. You can start out slow and increase the time in the booth slowly. This means that you will not get a sunburn. When you tan outside it can be hard to tell when you get too much sunlight.

So, when you go to a salon, you achieve a number of advantages over tanning outdoors. You get the safety of a controlled environment in which you learn to use lotions and other products to get the best, safest tan possible. But you also get so much more than this because you obtain psychological benefits from the indulgence of the spa experience and physical benefits from the UV light used in the salon.
