While reading ‘The Girl In the Tangerine Scarf’ there is no doubt that there is a fair amount of discrimination and injustice faced by the Muslims in the United States, but the Muslims are not just victims of outside sources. Once the surface is scratched the situation is much more complicated due to the cultural and religious difference between Muslims and Americans. However these differences are not so vast that they cannot be overcome. There is always a fear of the unknown, the Americans in this book do not want to invest their into understanding the beliefs and values of the Muslims and similarly the muslims are thrown into a place that is so alien to them that they might as well be on a different planet. They do not much of an attempt to understand their American
