Tamecia Your Candid Poem Analysis

Decent Essays
Tamecia your candid discussion is quite welcomed. I found your analysis of Mr. Wayne’s ballad to be guanine and sincere because most people are not willing to be forthright by stating that they might be unsure in their assumption of the ballad. When you said “correct me if I’m wrong” to me that was a way of welcoming criticism from your peers. However, I found your work to be spot on and I have no qualsm with what you stated. When you used yourself as a source it gave your discussion a personal touch. By adding yourself I feel it links you to your true feeling and it’s not just something that was read from a book or via the Internet. In other words your discussion had depth. Granted facts and figures are great in rhetorical argument but in an opinionated discussion I get the most from classmate who can interject real world application. …show more content…

Antonio- I really enjoyed reading your analysis of both Angelou and Ghirlandaio's works. I particularly liked how you pointed out how intimate the Old Man and his Grandson appeared to be depicted. I agree full heartedly, as I also choose to view the piece and noted the intimacy between the two. In term's of Maya Angelou, I did not know all of that about her history, and it changes my perspective on her writing of "Even the Stars Look Lonesome". I also liked how you noted the new ability to put a story behind art.…

When the anthology The Gift of Tongues was published, a majority of the writers were not a popular fan of the anthology due to the fact the majority of the people felt that poems should not be read out of context. At first I agreed with the critics during that time period considering the fact that every poem I read, I felt I was in a time machine heading off to different time periods. As I continue reading the poems anthologized by Sam Hamill, I traced this anthology in the epithetical point of view and I learned that Sam yearns us to feel the same empathy in different ways which the different poems are emphasizing. The empathetic feelings he tries to examine is sorrow and he tried to emphasize this from a life point of view and a regrettable point of view. Life point of view is an empathy emphasizing sorrow due to the fact that in life you will feel sorry to the people that are broke.…

African Americans have had a long and burdened history in the United States, beginning with the institution of slavery and continuing on to the widespread racial injustice that they persevered and still endure today. As we look deep into the historical backdrop of America we cannot deny that African Americans have had a profound effect on the character of the United States of America. They helped to change the face of not just America, but of themselves. They called out for liberty and equality wherever the opportunity had arisen; battling ardently for the proclaimed equality that the Declaration of Independence decreed. This fight has been going on even before the U.S. was formed, through violent and bloody slave revolts to passionate and…
