If order directly from the manufacture, difference sized shoes can be purchased at a reduced price (retail price + 50%). A wider shoe can be ordered to accommodate for the client’s larger left foot without having to paid full price X2, for separate pairs of shoes. In addition, SAS shoes come with very well padded interiors, which will help reduce friction/pressure points within the shoe. The shoe can be stretched at the forefoot to increase depth - for the clawed toes if necessary. If irritation only occurs at 1-2 digits depth can be specifically increased with a ball-and-ring stretcher. A sulcus crest should be implemented bilaterally (especially with rigid clawed toes), this will support the phalanges and will reduce presser at the distal tips of the toes. Styliod accommodation to reduce impact at the styliod – typically increased with varus deformities.

• Cost of OTC shoes + modifications ~ Shoes = $200 retail (+$100 for difference sizes) + modifications (Stretch – 10$, Sulcus crest $25, Styliod accommodation 20$ = 55$). Total ~
