I have always been an extremely competitive person for as long as I can remember, so it was no surprise to me that Competition was one of my top five talent themes. When I was younger, I was always competing with classmates or teammates in every aspect of my life. I can still to this day recall my five-year-old kindergarten self studying for hours, so that I could be the first to in the class to read all of the hundreds of increasingly difficult vocabulary word cards that my wonderful teacher Mrs. Williams assigned our entire class throughout the year. I almost immediately discovered that I had the potential to become significantly better at football than gymnastics, so I quit gymnastics and devoted all of my attention to football. The habits formed by my competitive tendencies significantly propelled my performance in football similar to as they did during my time as a gymnast. Because of my gymnastics background, I was significantly stronger than the majority of other 7th grade football players, so some aspects of the game came very easy to me from the start. In contrast, I quickly realized I needed to focus on many technical aspects of my positions as a linebacker and quarterback because being new to the game caused me to look very awkward sometimes while playing. Although I had never played football before jr. high, I became a starter on offense and defense because of my desire to be the best. I sincerely believed that we could win every single game, but we accomplished the exact opposite. My team did not win a single game in 8th grade, and it was a horrible feeling for me. I hated to lose more than anything. These losses pushed me to work even harder, so that in theory I would prevent losses by better contribute to my high school team.
