Do you believe it's appropriate for your child to read an horror genre? Would you even believe your child reads about murder in school? The Tale-Tell Heart is an horror genre your child is reading at school. It's about a man named Edgar Allan Poe not liking a man because of his eye. He didn't like the man eye so bad that he decided to kill him. He thought he got away with the murder but he ended up telling on himself. I strongly believe The Tale-Tell Heart is appropriate for my age group. First, I believe the short story is appropriate because it uses good sensory. I say that because little things usually don't scare us anymore. Reading this story makes people my age want to read more horror genres. For example in the story he said , “I was never kinder to the old man than during the whole week before I killed him”. Also, you never know one day they may start writing their own horror genre story because they like it so much. So one day they could actually have a career of writing horror genres. Another reason is The Tale-Tell Heart has a good flowing scene. Everything that happened in the story flowed together like a map. I say that's a good thing because it can teach us how to write. The better the book is the better we should learn how to write. I say that because if we read right we should know how to write right. As you can see I think it's appropriate for your child to read The Tale-Tell Heart. I understand that people thinks it's inappropriate for middle school students to read The Tale-Tell Heart because of violence. What they don't understand is violence is all around us. Kids in middle school should be mature enough to read The Tale-Tell Heart anyways. I'm pretty sure middle school students know right from wrong.
