Tale Of Two Cities Quote Analysis

Imagine doing or experiencing something great, and something almost regretful at the same time. This sounds much like a dare where one gets a dollar for let’s say dumpster diving. Feeling all the mushy rotten food that burns one’s nose, but that satisfying dollar that one could buy a snack with. Pleasant and nasty, right? However, the book “A Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens describes positive and negative situations much better. This story takes place in Paris and London during a Revolution, the French Revolution to be precise. Charles opens up the novel by saying, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” B. This quote gives us a message that a situation can be positive and negative at the same time depending on one’s viewpoint. C. Well, this is true from the perspective of three characters from the book, “A Tale of Two Cities” D. One of the characters, Lucie Manette, hesitated about the situation about meeting her father. Once again imagine a positive and negative moment. Remember the dares? B. The quote is true when Lucie saw her poor father, struggling to remember her, but then Lucie seeing his young and energetic smile after all that. Then Doctor Manette facing the truth of Lucie’s husband, but then seeing her happy. And Sydney Carton looking back at his sad life then dying seeing Lucie’s smile and tears in his brain as the blade severed his head off. C. The positive and negative moments like those in “A Tale of Two Cities” is what makes life challenging. All of the character’s suffered a positive and negative dilemma, risk, question, etc. That influenced their future. Real people like us are, too, much like these characters by experiencing these moments. To summarize, the quote, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” is true for basically real humans, fictional characters, and, of course, “A Tale of Two Cities”
