From Rag To Riches Sydney Carton Character Analysis

"From rags to riches" is a frequently used term describing someone who started in a poor situation and became someone who performs meaningful actions. Doing good deeds, or being a good person, wouldn't be as difficult for a person who started with money, food and a good home. However, it becomes a different story when drugs, alcohol, violence, and poverty are thrown into the mix. Sydney Carton, one of the main characters in A Tale of Two Cities, and Mark Wahlberg, a present day actor, both went "from rags to riches". Sydney lived life without meaning and drank liquor frequently. Mark Wahlberg grew up in a broken family where he quickly became absorbed in drugs and violence. Transitioning from their fallen actions and ways of life to redemption, Mark Wahlberg and Sydney Carton sought a change through separate means. Mark Wahlberg and Sydney Carton were fallen because they weren't living well and making morally good decisions. Sydney Carton was a drunk who didn't see much purpose for his living and didn't care about his future. No matter who they are or where they came from, they can better themselves as a person. In return for bettering themselves, they have the ability to change the world and make it a better place as well. Looking back, it is clear that society is broken and that everyone have fallen away from what is morally right. However, redemption is always an option and everyone has the ability to change, they simply have to want to change. Mark Wahlberg and Sydney Carton are perfect examples of people who made a complete turn- around in their lives and thereby made those around them happier. They created an unbelievably good influence on anyone who is struggling with doing good in life. These men show anyone can go from rags to
