Tale Of Two Cities: Man's Inhumanity

With the invention of the Guillotine, the French Revolution takes a bloody turn as the peasants seek revenge on the aristocracy, blaming the entire race of nobles for the suffering and mistreatment of the common people. Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens captures the transition of power from the nobles to the peasants through the course of the novel. The suffering, desperation, and anger inside of the peasants is released first in the Storming of the Bastille in retaliation to the power of the nobles to put anyone they please into prison without a reasonable cause. Their vengeance, however, transitions quickly into a blood bath. The first spark of the fire hidden deep within the oppressed is ignited after being masked for so long by their pain. The sequence starts with the basic, minor evils embedded deep in all humans, advancing to the crazed and malignant mobs during the Revolution, closing with a return to idleness where the vindictive actions are associated with the senselessness of daily life. The Revolution seems to give this oppressed group of peasants the amount of fuel to inflame the antipathy, present among the suffering, for the nobility’s tendencies to ignore the despair of the common people. Completely unaware of the power of the peasants, the aristocracy causes a wildfire to ignite, which ultimately will burn them to their deaths. The theme of man’s inhumanity to man is forever present in every human. The degree that these inhumanities are presented varies, based on the opportunities to unearth these inhumanities from deep inside oneself. If given the power to seek wrath on those who wronged you with the suffering of many years, it is not possible to imagine the power or evils of
