I was in Miles Halters and Chip Martins dorm room playing a race car game on mute and listening to Chip Martin on the phone with Alaska's boyfriend Jake .Then Miles Halter walked in and said,
“How long has he been on the phone”
And I said “Dunno. He was on when I got here twenty minutes ago. He must have skipped Smart Boy Math. Why are you scared Jake’s gonna drive down here and beat you up for letting Alaska leave campus go?” He left the room and went into the bathroom to smoke a cigarette. I paused my game and walked in there and said,
“Whats up?
Then Miles said, “I just want to know what happened to her.”
I replied and said,
“Do you really want to know the truth? Or do you want to find out that she fought with Jake and was on her way to break up with him and was going to come back here and fall into your arms and you were going to hook up?” Then Miles said madly,
