Reflective Essay On Being Mindful

What is to be mindful? Not once did this question come to mind until I took this class. We humans have the tendency of living a fast lifestyle. Being aware is something that not always is put into perspective in order to have a mindful-living. Among the techniques provided in the textbook a mindfulness-based stress reduction workbook, incorporating methods of self-reflection into a daily routine contributes to a stress free life. Before, I was unaware that on a daily basis I tend to approach circumstances in a manner which conflicts with the way in which I perceive situations. I have a habit of battling with my emotions, stress and every situation in life in a particular way which after taking the course Mind-Body Stress Reduction, I became aware that it is unhealthy and judgmental. The lack of knowledge of how to manage ones thoughts and decision making can as result affect life in general. The first time I practiced mindfulness I was not familiar with such method. However, I found my thoughts to drift as I practice how to be mindful. During a mindful checking my thoughts consisted in school, work, my Lsat exam and how I was going to make time to enjoy myself. As I continued establishing a routine and incorporating methods such as body scan, mindful eating, mindful attitude among others, I started seen improvements in how I approach and resolve certain situations. On September 9, 2016, I took the time to practice a mindful attitude throughout the day. During this practice my thoughts and feelings consisted in wanting to get to work on time, rushing to avoid traffic and as result I became angry for been late.
