Taking risks Final Graph By Joshua Belk

Would you rather live through life cautious and worried, or take a risk every day? Personally, I would go with the second option and you should too! Taking a risk is a stepping stone in your life. If you just stay cautious about every little thing, then you’re not going to learn a lot. You can’t be perfect, you have to take risk in life. It benefits in many ways, and I’ll explain a few.

For starters, taking risks allow you learn from any mistakes. Without doing so, you won’t learn important lessons in life. Even if your risk doesn't come out as planned, you’ll still learn from that failure and make sure it doesn't happen again. The more risks you take, the more you’ll learn and get better from it.

While reading the Time magazine article “Why the Teen Brain is Drawn To Risk”, I noticed the connections between the article and the character Chris McCandless from the book Into The Wild by author Jon Krakauer. I don't agree with the article when it says that risk taking occurs when teens are unaware of the dangers involved. Chris McCandless is a good example, because he knew the risks behind his venture into the great unknown. He knew what could go terribly wrong along the way, but still decided to take the risk. Teenagers take these risks because they don't have any responsibility to keep them accountable for their actions.…

As a student at Nobles, opportunities to do new things are constantly presenting themselves. Whether it is trying a new sport, taking a new class, or just reaching out to a new kid, Nobles cultivates an environment where students have plentiful opportunities to take risks. One of the reasons people are so reluctant to take risks, especially in a community such as Nobles where everyone is generally good at everything, is the uncertainty of success and even a possibility of failure. This feeling of doubt and uncertainty that accompanies taking risks in the Nobles community depicts ‘living the question’ in our day to day lives. By taking risks, you are able to overcome the nerves of trying something for the first time and just live in the present,…

In “Breaking Through Uncertainty-Welcoming Adversity” by Jim Mccormick, the biggest risk-taking in the story is the initial act of skydiving. The next big risk in that story is the act of releasing one parachute for another. As said in paragraph 14 we see that ”The wrong order could cause my reserve parachute to deploy into my spinning main parachute which would result in an incurable entanglement” which makes the risk of making a bad mistake very costly; death. In the other story “Neighbours” by Lien Chao, there isn’t a significant amount of the typical risk-taking. Sally does take risks in making new friends with Joe and Elizabeth and telling them her life story.…
