With E-learning, there is a teacher, but all of the material is online where I can learn in the comfort of my home. In a classroom setting, there are set schedules and strict deadlines, alternately with online learning, I’ve been able to learn and complete tasks at my pace.…

To briefly summarize the philosophical shift that ReLeah Cosset Lent calls the “responsibility breakthrough, it allows the student to learn something they enjoy at a pace, within reason, that is acceptable to learn it. As stated by R. Lent “Too many students have had so little experience making academic choices that they don’t know how to decide.” (Lent, 2010, p.70), in which case students need to learn to take charge of their education and not rely on a teacher to teach them to enjoy certain aspects of education. R. Lent believes that a teacher needs to “Provide as much autonomy as possible in choice of content, task, texts, partners, delivery, due dates, and assessment” (Lent, 2010, p.71) allowing the student to enjoy what they are learning…

There are boundaries that keep society safe, like the painted lines on the freeway, and then there are boundaries that truly confine society, like those currently employed in many school systems, that are meant to be broken. Bridging the gap between two different subject matters or connecting concepts with different mediums are the very ideals that made my high school experience so enriching. By having the privilege to conduct research and collaborate with others, my personal boundaries of thought were greatly expanded.
