The trees seemed to stretch for miles. As I wandered down the abandoned street, the shadows seemed to inspect me, in their gloomy expanse. The flowers that had been meticulously planted along the road as well as in front of the houses had wilted into dry skeletons of what they had been before. Everything had seemed to go from excruciatingly loud to quiet within sheer seconds of stepping into the rejected alleyway. This is why I like it here, it allows me to think without distraction.
