Students are told about the importance of getting good grades since young. Many students believe that grades can determine who they are in the future and what kind of career that can earn a lot of money. Therefore, college students nowadays are very concerned about their grades and do not actually enjoy the process of learning and the learning outcomes from certain classes. Moreover, students that think study is all about getting good grades might often felt stressed and frustrated with their college life. In fact, grades are important, but students should never forget about the importance of learning. For example, student will set their goal on getting A’s in all their classes in order to achieve high GPA, which will look great on the resume when they would like to apply for job in the future. There are other authors that share the same position as Rubino. For example, Jomari Guerrero, in his article “The Pros and Cons of Learning Versus Just Getting Good Grades” published in The Prospect, stated that students are so concern about getting good grades, because they think that grade will defines “who they are in the future and their occupational status” (Guerrero). This is the main reason why students think that good grades are important, because students believe they will have a higher job position in the future if they own good grades. Moreover, Students are most usually study for a quiz or test in order to achieve higher grades, but they will forget everything that they learned after the test. As a result, students might not learn any knowledge out from that class and it is considering as a waste of time for attending the class without learning anything. Furthermore, Lauren Schuhmacher in her article “Why Grades Don’t Really Matter That Much After All” published in the Huffington Post, she argues that most of the students might think that college education is a prerequisite for getting good job in the future, therefore students will pay less attention to the entire process of learning.
