Effects and Consequences of Taking Ecstasy Ecstasy has been a popular party drug for a long time. It is a popular drug to be distributed at raves and parties. In the recent years electronic dance music festivals have been a common place for people to go dance and take ecstasy and enjoy themselves. One of the most well known of these festivals is called EDC or the Electric Daisy Carnival and it is held here in Las Vegas annually. The article followed the story of a 19-year-old girl in Austria and how she died after taking ecstasy. She had weed and beer in her system when she took the 4 tablets of ecstasy. She started to exhibit some bad effects from the drugs and she couldn’t walk or talk without help. She was also trembling and sweating. Unfortunately, her friends didn’t immediately call for help. Sadly when they did call for help, it was already too late and she couldn’t be resuscitated. She died from asphyxiation and hypoxia among other things, which led to cardiopulmonary failure. …show more content…
The article also pointed out that people view ecstasy as harmless but it is a very dangerous drug to take and can lead to death even on the first try. It is like any other drug and has its risks when taken and unfortunately in this case a young girl died due to its bad consequences. I think the article did a good job of explaining what happened to her body by taking the drug and how ecstasy is a street drug and that users can never fully know what they are taking and therefore putting their bodies in a very vulnerable state.
