Taking Control: A Short Story

I brace myself against a wall and begin to retake control of the SRC. It’s tricking my body into thinking it’s hot and the rest of senses followed, but I am in control. Control, I tell myself, I am in control. I can hear fine, and my sight is fine, and it is not hot.
I am not hot.
I am cool.
I am relaxed.
I am in control.
The SRC responds how it should and it quickly returns to its normal state. My body slowly starts cooling down and I can relax. That was really weird. That should not have happened. I am in constant control. I didn’t lose control. It was as if an outer force was messing with it, but that’s impossible. There’s nothing that can mess with a SRC like that, unless you physically hook yourself up to a machine. SRCs were designed

“Yeah,” I reply, sarcastically. “I just jump down at incredible heights, my body can out fight anyone I’ve gone against so far and I can sense danger. Oh and I can’t be put out by a taser or a sedative and when I got shot, I didn’t even feel it, but my body just kept moving as if it wasn’t even there. Even now, it’s not bothering me, though it’s still healing.”
Jensen blinks, coming to his feet as if realizing something important. I stand, my interest sparked. He looks down at me with awe in his eyes at what he discovered. “Your ability isn’t something new to you. It’s something you’ve been down before you were a demon.”
I’m completely lost. What was I doing before I was a demon? I was crazy and had only one thought most of the time. Revenge. To kill Daemn and avenge Kallua’s death. That never happened. Stonewood used me and got to him first and now there’s a black hole in my heart that I’ve shoved away. So unless my new power is revenge, which I know it isn’t, then I have no idea what Jensen’s getting out. “Which is?”
He opens his mouth to reply when the entire building shakes violently and the booming of explosion filling the room with dust and smoke. The Order’s started their attack on Scelestus
