Taking Away Research Paper

A recent discussion has came up about how some schools in the eastern part of America have made the rule that if a student isn’t maintaining a 2.00 GPA or higher, their licenses can be revoked. While this is difficult for some people around the country to come up with an agreement on, many people disagree with it. Taking away a student's car for getting bad grades is an unfair idea.
Granted, taking away a student's car because they are getting bad grades might make the student try harder in school. Yes, if student notices themselves getting bad grades, it could possibly motivate them to work harder in school and show more effort. However, some kids just literally don’t care about school, their grades, or their future. This would be most of the kids getting a 2.00 GPA. If they don’t care enough about any of that, taking away their car would possibly motivate them in no way whatsoever.
To begin, taking away a kids car could cause even worse grades. Looking into this deeper, if a student's car is taken away from them that could cause them to miss even more school. Perhaps

Taking away a student's license is not fair. Not to mention the fact that a car and a license has nothing to do with grades and/or keeping your grades up. To be able to maintain steady grades that are higher than a 2.00 GPA, a kid has to attend school (having a license plays a huge role in this), pay attention in class, and just put in effort. Also, teachers are at school to help us learn, not to take a license away from us. If a teacher cares that much about a student's’ grade, they would come up with a better ultimatum that was more academically related. This would be something that would personally help a student receive better grades, such as tutoring, asking a student to come in during lunch, or helping a student switch into an easier class that is more beneficial to their learning abilities and

Other students have agreed on this and have completely stopped driving on campus due to the risk of damaging their cars and spending more to maintain them. If more students decide not to drive to school, the school would lose more money because there would be no need for anyone to buy a parking permit. The school should pave all parking lots and ensure that they are in the best conditions for drivers. This would save students the trouble of fixing unnecessary repairs on their vehicles and keep them buying a…

When Justin Turner smacked the game-winning home run for the Dodgers on Sunday night, announcers, sportswriters, bloggers and fans all called it the same thing: a “walk-off.” Unknown as recently as the 1970s and 1980s, the term “walk-off” for a game-ending hit has become as comfortable a part of the baseball lexicon as “balls” and “strikes.” And it’s spreading.…

Should States be able to revoke your driver’s license which you have previously earned, or disqualify you from receiving one until you are 18; if you dropped out of highschool. A surprising 27 states have said yes to this question. No, I disagree with “No Pass No Drive” I think it’s wrong and irrelevant to whether or not we are regularly educated. To me it sounds like a government overreach into the personal lives of citizens of the state.…

One reason we should use this law is so that we can motivate kids to try harder and pay more attention in their classes. In Kentucky this law did not only help motivate the kids to try harder, it also made the teachers try to support the kids more. The author of “No Pass/No Drive” said “Other research has found that when ‘no pass/no drive’ rules exist, school staff members pay closer attention to students who may be at risk of dropping out, and try to help them earlier” (6). This could be caused by the students willingness and ambition to learn. If both the student and teacher is trying to succeed and get better it will cause positive change in the student’s grades.…

Letter grades existed long before we are born. According to Mark W. Durm, “1883—At Harvard there is a reference to a student making a B. This apparently was the first use of a letter for a grade that can be found” (1). There are many great leaders attended schools and received letter grades; even our grand parents might have received letter grades in their life. Many people attended school and grew up with grades and every one of us is very familiar with grades. We fought for good grades to get into different programs and honor rolls.…

If you witness people in the streets of Athens slamming car doors, throwing keys, sprinting to class, or kicking car doors–don’t be alarmed! These are the sights and sounds of students displaying anger because trying to park legally for an extended period of time at Ohio University is like trying to park legally in a “filled” parking garage-nearly impossible. Students agree, having a car on and around campus isn’t worth this frustration or expense! “Parking is by far the worst issue on the Athens campus. If you have a car, leave it at home because your frustration will lead you to park illegally; and hence, you’ll find yourself paying excessive fines in parking tickets,” said Jake Luken, a fourth-year student in the college of Business Finance.…

As any student knows, grades are reflective of their accomplishments in a given class. However, grades mean much more to students than whether they know the material or not. Grades mean whether or not someone will get into their college of choice, whether or not they have to retake that class they had failed as a result of an emotional semester, whether or not they are hired for a position against someone who graduated with a higher grade-point average (GPA). Students are under more duress than ever to be academically excellent because of the mounting pressure in the American education system. This pressure is due to GPA inflation and expectations of above-average academic performance.…

I think that drivers should not have to have a high school degree in order to obtain a drivers license. This bill will be impacting many people, along with taking away a small chunk of freedom that some teenagers are able to have. I don’t really have an interest in getting my own license, but I know there are also people my age out there who are counting down the days until they’re able to drive on their own. This bill is going to make life much harder for teenagers than it needs to be.…

Although many people believe that a person should have their high school diploma before he or she gets their driver's license, but I disagree because you can be sixteen to get your driver’s license and some people are eighteen before they get there high school diploma. I don’t think that you should have a high school diploma before you get your driver’s because when kids turn sixteen they want to start doing things for themselves, and they don’t want their parents driving them around when the 20 because they didn’t get their high school diploma. When you turn sixteen you want to go to your friends parties, and it would be embarrassing if you show up with your parents coming to drop you off and leaving, then when the party was over it might be one in the morning on a Sunday morning then you would have to wait for your parents to show and drive you back home.…
