Throughout my high school experience, I have gotten, on average, five to six hours of sleep each night. I take four or five AP classes each year in order to maintain my GPA and knowledge advancement. With taking this many classes I do not have as much time to hang out with friends or socialize as a regular student would. I have seen both positive and negative effects of these courses in my life. One of the main effects of taking these classes is lack of sleep. It is said that teenagers, ages fourteen to seventeen, need at least ten to eight hours of sleep each night; however, this is an exaggerated amount compared to what teenagers taking AP courses truly get (National Sleep Foundation). The amount of work given in these classes results in the students getting approximately five hours of sleep each night, which is very unhealthy. Since these students do not get enough sleep, they tend to be grumpy and exhausted the next day. If they are exhausted the next day, they will not be in full learning capability. Loss of sleep is also a huge factor as to why people get sick at times because are immune system tends to not work as well when we have lack of sleep. Many people argue that AP classes should not be taken across the board, but how are students supposed to be
