If I give a participant an easy fifty word essay, then how long would it take for the participant to remember and recite it? Are there any tactics that help your brain store information better? Let's see what you can learn from this paper, but also what you can remember from it later.
The reason or purpose I chose this topic to do research on because I sometimes forget to study for tests, and I was curious to know how long it would take to study to be able to recall the information well enough to make an A on a test. Also what are some easy games or tricks to help your brain remember information? Lumosity is a very well known app with multiple games for different places of the brain. The materials I used for the experiment was a notebook, pen, a watch to time, an easy and short fifty word essay, and participants. The volunteers that were used in my experiment were Dexter Blissard, Madison Laney, and Jackson Harrell.

There were two essays that I used the first one is a short little story by Vincent Mars that goes, “The flower at the sunlight. The grasshopper ate the flower. The toad ate the grasshopper. The snake ate the toad. The hawk ate the snake. The hawk broke his wing. The rat ate him. The pig ate the rat. Robert did not eat the pig because he was a vegetarian.” The second essay I used goes, “Bob loved his cats. HIs cat sat on his favorite mat. His cat, Mr. Bob, wore his favorite hat. Mr. Bob chased after his favorite rat when Bob was playing with his bat. Mr Bob then sat flat. Bob wanted to chat, but Mr. wanted a pat on his furry

Anyone can have an outstanding story to tell, but in writing it can only be manipulated into a work of art with the use of narration. Narrating a story from first person has created the most enjoyable stories. “The Norton Sampler had a wonderful selection of narratives that fell under this category. I enjoyed the structure and layout of Thomas Beller’s “Ashen Guy” and most of Mary Bebane’s “The Back of the Bus.” The two essays gave a decent depiction of the event(s) that occurred.…

Reading Assignment 4 The major reason for returning to school to complete my degree was based on not taking my memory for granted. I find that my memory has changed, not recalling names was the most frustrating, since I was never good with that anyway. On many occasions, I find myself not remembering what I wanted to do when I enter another room. In order to be more productive and not overwhelmed, I keep a calendar and a journal. At times, I have posted notes on my cell phone calendar, so I get a daily reminder.…

"Dumdiddleydumdum, dumdum" is the riff that has inspired multiple songs and many artists. In "Liberating the Students Voice" Mark Holding explains to his students how this applies to college essays. They all must follow a set of rules but in the end, they are all completely different. This seemed very interesting to me since I have never seen it in that way. For instance, The Who and Bow Wow Wow are both from complete two different music genres but they somehow found a way to use the same riff that Bo Diddley created in 1955.…

Studies have shown that physical activity can help improve memory as one grows older. However, does physical activity also help one memorise a list of items for an exam or paper? My aim is to test whether memory can be improved by doing physical activity. I’ve always been told by teachers and family that physical exercise can improve your memory, so I thought I would test if this theory is accurate. If this experiment is successful, I might try it on myself as a new studying technique.…

The Sanctuary of School The essay I chose to write was over the short article of “The Sanctuary of School” by Lynda Barry. In this story it talks about the author Lynda Barry’s experience with the school from a young age. She talks about growing up in a home with her mom and her dad having money issues, relatives that kept moving in, her brother and her sleeping on the couch, and the constant fighting going on. She explains how she didn’t feel safe at home so she talks about school being a safe haven for her, and how lucky she was that she had Mrs. LeSane and Mr. Gunderson.…

This essay had to be based on the irony aspect in the short story “The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin. The story describes a series of emotions Louise Mallard endures after hearing of the death of her husband Brently, who was believed to have died in a railroad disaster. 11-12.W.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas, concepts, and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content. I met this common core due to the fact I wrote an explanatory essay that conveyed the idea of irony which became expressed inside the short tale. The first actual essay that I had to write in English class that had a huge impact on my grade became an essay that I wrote in…

While my own version of Virginia Woolf’s “The Death of the Moth” does not have any major revisions, from a comparison of words (only about 6%), it works to highlight the considerable problems in the original essay while simultaneously seeking to stand on its own as a humorous piece of irony. By modifying the creature and what happens to it, the essay overall should be heavily modified, however, the meaning of the story remains unchanged until over half the story has passed. Clearly, then, the essay’s goal remains solely within the final paragraphs, instead of being developed throughout. This is because the essay is written, supposedly, by following causal experiences. However, as my satirical version displays, the goal of the essay was determined…

Since our first attempt at writing an essay in elementary to middle school, we are told the main components to writing an essay is the ‘beginning’, ‘middle’, and ‘end.’ All of which holds true today, but as we move from one grade to the next, the standards for a ‘good’ essay changes for the better. Rhetorical strategies, devices, and appeals also known as rhetoric, is what we learn in high school (Stotsky 10). The continuation of the expanding knowledge is what makes us alter our writing strategies, from the material taught to us in our adolescent years of elementary school and every year thereafter. It is in high school that we are taught to analyze and dissect the author, as well as the author’s work ceaselessly.…

In the groups (2B) the students picking however they wanted to take their notes to ensure comfortability for their learning process but went through 3 separate studies. My writing process coming into junior year was quite flawed and would go moderately like this: I would try and start with some hook that at least sounded like it related to the topic I was assigned. I then added a thesis that did not sound like total trash that included exactly what I planned to discuss. As I wrote the rest of my essays, I would sometimes realize there was something I felt added to the argument’s appeal, and after adding it to the body paragraphs, I summed it up in a couple words and squeezed it into my thesis. That was about the maximum amount of revising I would do for my essays. My decently crafted essays contained simple diction with a few SAT words I remembered while writing thrown in awkwardly.…
