Taino Natives

Taino Natives of Puerto Rico I inherited my Puerto Rican culture from both my mother and father. As I know very little about my ancestors, I decided to do my presentation on the Taino Indians. These peaceful indigenous tribe came from, what is known as, South America. The meaning of Taino is, “the men of the good,” are indigenous people who made their home in various parts throughout the Caribbean islands. When they was discovered, they were called the Taino natives.
The Taino natives named the island "Boriken  or "Boriquen” meaning the great land of the valiant and noble Lord or “land of the great Lords. By 1509, their peaceful island was conquered by Spain on behalf of Juan Ponce de Leon, who later became the first governor of the
