STANDARD OPERATING POLICIES

1. Safety Meetings: Unit and program managers shall discuss a brief safety topic at monthly family meetings. All employees shall participate, to the fullest extent possible, in the monthly safety meetings. Supervisors shall attend and document safety meetings. The documentation shall include a list of employees that attended. Summer (seasonal) crews shall hold "Tailgate Safety Meetings" with the project manager prior to the start of any job and weekly there after. These meetings will be provided in accordance with the Safety & Health Code Handbook 6709.11 and a JHA(S).

2. Employees “Right to Report”: Employee(s) shall have the right to report a safety concern without fear of restraint, interference, coercion, discrimination, or reprisal for filing a report of an alleged unsafe or unhealthful working condition, or otherwise participating in Forest Service Safety and Occupational Health Program. “Employee Report of Unsafe/Unhealthful Working Condition” form and the “Lesson Learned Information Summary” sheet shall be made available to all employees through the NNF intranet safety page and /or hard

5. First Aid and CPR Training: Those employees’ assigned supervisory responsibilities shall receive appropriate safety training in 1st Aid and CPR. Fire personnel fall into more stringent regulations pertaining to the 1st AID and CPR requirements as outlined in FSH 5109.17.

At least one person on each Unit shall have completed standard First Aid Training. All first line supervisors shall attend First Aid Training on a 2 year basis. All Units shall ensure each field-going supervisor holds a valid first aid card. 6. Job Hazard Analysis: Prepare a job hazard analysis form, BEFORE a special project is undertaken. The form documents the justification for personal protective safety equipment.

7. eSafety shall be utilized to report and document all accidents and/or incidents involving a personal injury or motor vehicle (to include ATV’s and UTV’s) accident.
