Some of my biggest accomplishments have been achieved because of one honor I received years ago. At age 7 I was admitted into the Talented and Gifted (TAG) program. The TAG program is for unique students with an IQ over 120 who aren't being challenged by the school's typical curriculum. This program has presented some of the most delightful challenges and rewarded some of the sweetest accomplishments to my peers and I. The influence of the TAG program can be divided into three different factions: peer competition, challenges from my instructor, and diverse experiences outside of the classroom. These three pillars of the TAG program combined to create a continuously impactful environment that helped to shape me into my current self.

Though I have not always been consciously aware of the four pillars of National Honor Society, the ideas behind them are what have undoubtedly shaped who I am today as well as who I want to be in the future. The first pillar, scholarship, is important because a commitment to learning is what has made me interested in engineering and innovation. Additionally, scholarship has driven me to seek a meaningful post-secondary education where I can advance my learning to help better society. Service, the second pillar, has been important to my development because it has taught me that giving is more fulfilling than receiving. Moreover, this pillar has motivated me to construct a goal of serving in the US Air Force.…

The National Honors Society defines what it means to serve the student body as well as the community. As a student athlete in the Sutton school system leadership, service, character and scholarship have impacted my very way of life. Having a persistent attitude is what makes a student shine and as a prospective candidate for NHS I will incorporate this quality into each of the four pillars improving the society as a whole. Three years ago I began the NHS application process though I had little experience in volunteering for the community and lacked the opportunity to develop myself as a leader this changed as my high school career went on. Through athletics and long hours of volunteering with the town's technology department has provided me with numerous opportunities as high school went on.…

WHY I WANT TO JOIN THE HONORS PROGRAM Alighting from a Boeing 747 jetliner on the JFK tarmac on Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, I walked into what could be called a new page in my life story—a new start. That was my first time on this side of the hemisphere. With little money, zero friends, one close relative and little to hold on to, I found myself leaning on only a thread of asset – my mind. Knowing this, I vowed to keep this God given asset alive and growing with all my soul and might, and what better way to do this than to identify with people of like passion, people who will add to me.…
