Taco Bell's Sausage Crumbles

Improved Essays
The overall purpose of this lab was to determine what kind of meats were present inside of Taco Bell’s sausage crumbles and to find out if there was any misleading labeling in the popular product. Our hypothesis was that we would find various types of meat present in the sausage such as pork, beef, and chicken. Our results supported our hypothesis. According to our data, the sausage was composed of pork or pig that came from the Sus genus. There was no other type of animal present in the sausage other than pig. Because we had a high quality sequence score above 50, our DNA was reliable and we were able to support with a 99.41%, 99.56%, and 99.56% sequence similarity to Sus scrofa the sausage was made of pure pig and only one kind of pig as …show more content…
We also only took one trial, to be more accurate we should have done many, getting samples from Taco Bell at different times to see if anything changed. Lastly, with three different samples we were not able to cover near the amount of sample we were given. If we took more samples we could’ve used most of our sample making sure we got all of the sausage crumble. Because of these sources of error, we can not prove the meat was pork but the data we retrieve supports the meat being Sus scrofa. Through this experience, we learned how to work as a team to create and perform an experiment that can be used in the real world. The type of research that was done and the amount of work that was put into this journal article is a fantastic example of how people work in the science field. Sometimes we faced struggles but we were able to overcome them and become closer as a group in order to achieve a goal. The research we did can be used for anyone if they want to see what kind of meat is inside certain food products, and we were able to utilize our skills we learned in class and apply them to the real

Evaluation When performing the experiment, the pill bugs were generally unresponsive, and many stayed in the same place throughout the whole experiment. Outside of this, no major problems occurred while performing the experiment. If the experiment were to be performed again, more of the IV (baking soda, rubbing alcohol, etc.) would be added to produce a more pronounced effect on the pill bugs, as most pillbugs did not move at all. The results are mostly trustworthy and accurate, as the data is backed up by the research done prior to the experiment. Conversely, more trials could have been performed as experiments with living organisms tend to need a larger sample size.…

Stanely Milgram was a social phycologist who conducted an experiment in 1963 about nonviolent people being capable of hurting others due to obeying the authority under pressure despite their feeling of remorse. The way the experiment received progression was by having people play the role of a teacher and a learner. The teacher obeys the authority and the learner had to memorize a certain amount of words. If the learner failed to the duty, he would received a punishment of a dose of high voltage shock. Although the purpose of the experiment was to test how the learner was capable of learning, it to was to test the capability of the teacher to continue the experiment whether or not they felt guilt.…

In this article, Andrew Rowan, the author, speaks for arguments of people who are for animal testing and against animal testing. Rowan reports and explains thorough examples of animal research in times in which it failed, and when it succeeded which to me is very crucial when it comes to writing the argumentative assignment. The author does not have much of a bias in this article due to the fact that he is stating both sides of the argument with providing valid evidence for each. It includes a significant amount of details and facts for both sides of the argument while not favoring one side or the other. This source is extremely valuable to me in the fact that it is beneficial to know each side of the arguments to collect as much information…
