Even though that is true for most sports, tackle football should not be included in that list. Starting young isn’t always the answer to becoming a better athlete. In the sense of tackle football, six year old children do not have the brain cells that a high schooler has. Some might say that high schoolers have the mind of a six year old, and they could be pretty close on that estimate because of brain damage. Something new that is being brought up quite frequently is C.T.E., chronic traumatic encephalopathy. This is a disease that can only be found when the victim is dead. Doctors have found no cure for C.T.E., but they know that all patients with the illness have had history of repeated head traumas. They may be dying to play it, but the natural consequences make it not worth it. By starting so young, they have more probability of getting concussions, which could lead to illnesses, sometimes fatal. One fatal illness that has been recorded due to brain trauma is C.T.E., and that is an issue no one should have to deal with. Kids can only take so much, and coaches pushing them to focus on only one sport all the time is unrealistic. A lot of those children have so much going on in their heads already they don’t need a coach yelling at them. Parents can’t always afford to put their kids in football, but they do anyways and it causes them to be stressed. A better option for elementary aged kids is flag football. It is offered in most towns in America and is safer than tackle
