This Data Flow Diagram shows us how Alarm will flow to the Data Warehouse. Patient comes to a hospital and gets admitted to a Bed. Once he or she is admitted, care staff will connect them to monitoring devices. Monitoring Devices will Alarm the care staff if Patient needs attention. They will receive the acknowledgment from care staff if the Alarm was accepted or Rejected and will then forward the information to its Alarm Management Data Warehouse. If the rate of Rejects are greater in a Unit this could suggest that staff is either too busy to attend the alarm. This can be clear sign of understaffing. It could also suggest that staff are acting on the Alarms but are not documenting correctly which would indicate they require more training. Ultimately the goal should be for the Staff to attend to each and every Alarm to increase patient safety and satisfaction.
Report III – Graphical Analytical Report of Type of Alarms in Each Unit Types of Alarm in each unit can give a simple and quick look to the management team on what kind of Alarms are they receiving per unit. This could help them drill down in each unit and see where and what kind of problems are happening. This report can also help is determining what kind of staff should be each unit. If the unit has more Code Pink alarm this could suggest they have to tighten their security measure. If the unit has more Brady alarms this could suggest they need to hire more nurses before any sentinel event could happen and jeopardize patient
