I agree with you on supporting The Joint Commission (TJC) on their mission on patient safety, nursing education and research. Ultimately, there needs to be an overseer to ensure facilities are meeting standards on patient care and service quality. The purpose of the TJC survey and accreditation is to enhance patient care outcomes (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw, & O’ Grady, 2016). Healthcare facilities need to be held accountable for service delivered as well as the meeting the nursing staff education needs.
