The current National interest the government as well as the medical industry is showing in the current research of telecare due its potential of improving the medical sectors quality, cost effectiveness as well as safety is monumental. This interest has expanded from the realisation that this countries health service may be ill equipped to cope with the Nation’s future demands of bed space throughout the hospitals. It is these economic pressures that will cause a great demand on future telehealth devices such as the project ahead, this is to aid the health system in pro longing patients returning to the hospital by giving them independence in a safe environment. There are many terms used to describe the remote delivery of care: “telehealth”, “telecare”, telemedicine” and “home telemonitoring” are among the most often used. I have chosen to use the term “telecare” to describe the interaction “The TIDE project is exploring ‘state of the art’ alarm provision for the elderly and disabled.”[5] Following the opening statement evidence is given that Telecare has been and is currently an ongoing development in the medical industry. To prove this authors Bernard Fong, Alvis Fong and Daniel Chong wrote “The history of modern telemedicine goes back about a century ago.”[6] Both authors state the importance of developing Telehealth devices throughout their articles both going on to say how they feel
