A lot of times physical abuse is hard to spot because the abuser only targets spots that cannot be generally seen and the victim become extremely well at hiding it. Most people recognize the common signs but there are some incidents where you never could have guessed. The women that keep the abuse very secret dig themselves so deep into a hole that the abuse becomes a norm for them. And the abuse goes from bad to worse to unbearable. Sometimes when the abuse is carried on for a long time either the victim or the abuser becomes a murderer. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence released a statistic last year saying, “In 70-80% of intimate partner homicides, no matter which partner was killed, the man physically abused the woman before the murder” (“Fact”).
