Going to college is one of the most expensive things that an American citizen will pay for throughout their lifetime as paying student loans off takes years, even decades. As tuition rises, the economic standpoint of the United States is crippling and will cause an inevitable market crash with the $1.2 trillion owed in student loans. Not only is college unaffordable but somewhat unnecessary. "I don't know how many acquaintances of mine have graduated from college with a "business' or "criminal justice" degree and absolutely no idea how to get a job with it." Source F. This quote adds by describing the state that colleges leave students in.

Higher education calls for a decent amount of understanding and high tuition fee's. Any minority or low-income student is at a huge disadvantage since they believe they have to put themselves in tons of debt in order to get out of their situation. This debt carries on from generation to generation and creates a vicious cycle, all because society portrays college as a basic need. We view “college as a job” that gives substantial earnings returns to a college degree, irrespective of occupation, whether an individual is an insurance agent or a rocket scientist. This is not true because there are people with high degrees, like a PhD or a computer programmer, who have lost their jobs to layoffs. So having a college degree does not guarantee “substantial returns,” as Richard Vedder summarizes in his article, “For Many, College Isn’t Worth It." Vedder thinks the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) are fairly accurate and that college is not worth it for everyone because we are all created differently. An impartial understanding of the information is that school is justified, despite all the trouble, for some huge number of youngsters, but is a significantly more financially dangerous…

Dan Rather once said, “A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity.” Society today views a college degree similarly to the way Dan Rather viewed a college degree: as one of the only ways to achieve success in life. David Leonhardt says, “clearly” but Chris Matthews thinks more thought should be given to the process. I, personally, found college to be worth it with some information these writers use in their arguments and some information that pertains to my life that they could not factor into their generalized research.…
