Well, learning is improving and if you didn’t make mistakes you wouldn’t improve. While making a lot of mistakes gets you nowhere, sometimes it is necessary to mess up every once in awhile. If we didn’t mess up then we wouldn’t be human. In Lost Cities Lost Treasures, an archaeologist named Heinrich Schliemann discovered Ancient Troy, which was a big mistake. A man named Calvert agreed to split the land with Schliemann but was mistaken. Schliemann turned on him and took all the credit for the discovery. I am sure that Calvert learned his lesson when it came to trusting Heinrich.
Some people may say that all of this is boggess and that there is no way that discoveries come from mistakes. I agree; some discoveries were on purpose and flawless, but not always. Let's take fireworks, can you imagine the fourth of July without them that would be terrible! A cook accidentally mixed together charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter. When the mixture was compressed into a bamboo tube it exploded. Without this curious cook, we wouldn’t have beautiful vibrant skies lit up by fireworks every year.
