• Introduce a topic clearly and group related information in paragraphs and sections; include formatting (e.g., headings), illustrations, and multimedia when useful to aiding comprehension
• Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.
• Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally.
• Use a variety of transitional words and phrases to manage the sequence of events.

Kid Friendly Objectives:
The students should be able to:
• Introduce a topic in an understandable way.
• Write believable and well developed stores.

• After the short discussion I will introduce the novel, Story Thieves with a brief summary.
• Once I have given the summary I would hand out a copy of the book to each student.
• When everyone had a copy of the book I would have the students read the first chapter with assistance when needed. I would give the students about 15 minutes.
• After they have read the first chapter I will ask that students a couple questions for about 5-10 minutes. When the student are answering these question I would make sure I would explain exactly what made the author effective. o Some of the question I would ask are:
 How does the author introduce the characters?
 Which character do you think is the main character, and how do you know?
 How did the author introduce the setting of the book?
 What is something you can take away from the author’s style of
