C00108831 Feed, a novel by M.T. Anderson, is set in a dystopian future where the world is run by a technology known as "the feed". In the story, the main character Titus meets an interesting girl by the name of Violet who encourages him to resist the feed. That is to resist the corporate controlled internet that incessantly bombards those who use it with marketing and advertisement even in their sleep. Throughout the story, there are several instances where Titus and Violet attempt to resist the feed, in some pretty interesting ways if I do say so myself, but after reading I found myself wondering did they actually ever truly succeed in resisting the feed? When Titus attempts to

Anderson 's Feed is really just a worst case scenario type of deal. Our current world still has a long way to go before it gets even close to that type of future. And in actuality technology such as that shown in the feed is necessarily a bad thing it 's just being used in a bad way. When the feed first came out I 'm sure it wasn 't intended to be used as a mass form of marketing, "It was all da da da, this big educational thing, da da da, your child will have the advantage, encyclopedias at their fingertips, closer than their fingertips, etc.," which is not necessarily a wrong statement. If the feed were to be used right it could have been an excellent help with education and such not that it should replace traditional education that it should be used as a tool kind of like Google or a …show more content…
Anderson dedicates this novel to? In my opinion to resist in the world of Feed would actually be futile. That society is too far gone for anything short of a miracle or another nuclear war to fix. The small rebellion that Violet had and the even smaller resistance of Titus achieved nothing but self-gratification. To make even a small change in that world would take something humongous. However, would it be worth it to resist the chain events that allowed for a future such as that depicted in Feed, I believe it would be. If we could make it that far into the future while avoiding the events of Feed, especially the whole nuclear war and living underground deal, it would be quite an interesting future to be a part of. Feed is a huge warning to what human reliance on technology could lead to. However, I don 't think that this should scare people off from advances in technology. It should serve as a reminder to not let your reliance get too far. Technology always has the potential to be either a good thing or a bad thing, the deciding factor is how we as humans choose to use

In the futuristic, dystopian novel, Feed by M. T. Anderson, a world is depicted in which people have the internet, known as “feeds,” installed into their brain. In the book, the topic of knowledge, or lack thereof, is an important one. As people have an infinite, immediate access to information in their heads, they do not see education as a priority, and consequentially become less intelligent as the feed becomes more widely used. Within the first few pages, the reader can already see how difference the characters’ speech is from ours, in that their dialogue is extremely simplistic and unintelligent.…

While I do not agree with the views of the authors, I do agree that technology will only continue to grow and there will be benefits. Although I see concerns with this article, I can also see the impact this situation will have on our society over time. In just the last decade, we have seen technology grow, and shrink immensely. By shrink, I mean we can fit what used to be a 60 pound computer system into our pockets. With the decrease in size, the increase in popularity seems to only be growing.…
