Background
As a nurse, research was done in the hospital unit based on the type of model of nursing care that was being offered to the patients. After a detailed observational analysis led to the conclusion that the nursing care model being practiced in the nursing unit was revolving around the ‘Primary nursing care model.’ This practice is leading to several issues and setbacks, such as the responsibility of whole care depends on only one person who is accountable for all the decisions. Secondly, it requires more competitive Registered Nurses with leadership skills which also lead to the shortage of skilled RNs exerting high health care costs. Also, the nursing services …show more content…
They assert that synergy model is a model where the patient’s needs are a main priority, and a nurse with compatible competencies is assigned to care. This review summarizes that the synergy model presents a robust framework of nursing care model that promises patient-centered care through providing a theoretical support for decision-making that facilitates the safe interfacility transfers of the patient in critical care. On the basis of their review, they designed a Transport triage tool and described their idea through representing example cases. The authors concluded that adapting Synergy model in interfacility transfer will extend continuity of care from sending to receiving critical care unit (Swickard et al., …show more content…
According to the literature review, the synergy model is capable of enhancing the patient-centered care resulting in more safe and effective decisions and higher patient as well as staff satisfaction rate. The specific feature of synergy model is that it involves the matching of the characteristic and needs of the patient with the competencies of the nurse. Thus the patients get an expert care according to their problem, health condition and required level of care. From the perspective of the nurses, this model reduces the chances of erroneous decision, increases the staff satisfaction and the theoretical background support in this model assist in making decisions during critical
