Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a disease that anyone could take on whether they are male or female, young or old. When someone has too much sugar in their blood or not enough insulin that can result in developing T1D. It is important to live a healthy life or else you can end up living the rest of your life having to take a numerous amount of medication. When a child is diagnosed with T1D that means that their pancreas is not able to produce enough insulin to help the child stay alive. At a young age it can be very difficult for a child to adapt to the lifestyle. One symptom that makes most diabetic patients gain weight is increased hunger. Increased hunger is caused when the body isn’t using all the calories it can, which causes hunger(Alemzadeh R, Ali O. Another significant symptom is blurred vision. Blurred vision happens when sugar is built into the lens. Due to the sugar the lens start to change shape and people experience blurry vision. The last severe symptom is urinating numerous amounts of times. One of the biggest treatments is the new pancreas transplant. Having a new healthy pancreas helps the daily side effects with diabetes and the sugar glucose is kept at a normal without having to take any insulin. Though this treatment can change lives for the better it can also have some bad qualities to it. One thing that can be harmful to the body with a new transplant is that the body doesn’t recognize the new organ so the immune system starts to attack it. There is also a drug all patients have to take in order to stay away from horrible diseases like cancer and bacterial
