The patient endured an abundant amount of stress and pain when her husband died a year ago. The death of her husband caused her to start living on her own, which further isolated her from society and made her feel lonely. The client stated that one of her daughters lives within a ten minute radius of her home and the other daughter is coming all the way from England to reunite with her mother and live with her for a couple of months. By having all her children at her side, it will provide her with the social support she needs to reduce her stress and finally help her to cope with the death of her husband and her new disease. Also, the client stated that she lives ten minutes away from the hospital and drives therefore, appointments will be set up with the doctor for monthly check-ups to follow up with the new medications, how the patient is adjusting, concerns and evaluate the benefits and effects of her concrete social support system. Also, the client will be referred to the CLSC on social support groups in order to help cease her excessive alcohol consumption and also, to help her stop smoking. Emphasis will be put on getting the patient back into the hobbies she used to like to do before her husband died. The main stress that’s issued is the lost of her husband. The client stated that she was on Ativan, but terminated the treatment because she was experiencing persistent weakness and didn’t notify her doctor before abruptly stopping the medication. If the client persists to show consistency in increased levels of stress from the lost of her husband, the doctor will prescribe an alternative anti-depressant that has less of the undesired side effect of feeling extreme weakness. By doing this, the client can be compliant towards the treatment and benefit from it because if she’s depressed, she won’t focus or care about altering her lifestyle aimed to manage her cardiovascular disease. Also, the client stated that it’s a busy time of season at work for her. The client will be encouraged to take fewer hours at work, the patient stated that her reason for taking more hours at work was to distract herself from the pain she felt from the death of her husband. With less hours at work, it will enable her to have more time to do the things she enjoys in life like playing tennis and spending time with her daughter who will be visiting from England, all as a method to eliminate her stressors.
