Autism is a developmental disorder that makes it difficult for individuals to communicate as well as form relationships with people. People diagnosed with autism are characterized by the impairment to form normal social relationships and by stereotyped behavior patterns. In autism different areas of the brain fail to work together. Autism is the general term for a group of complex disorders of brain development.
Cause: Some of the believed causes of an individual developing autism is having a family history, environment of child surroundings and caused by other medical problems.

Primary Dx (1): Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
ODD is a behavioral disorder in which a child displays an ongoing pattern of uncooperative, defiant, hostile and annoying behavior toward people in authority. An individual diagnosed with ODD may show persistent patterns of tantrums, arguing and disruptive behavior.

Tx: the current treatment techniques used to help with ODD are Psychotherapy which is a type of counseling and Medications to help with co-occurring conditions
Prognosis: Some of the prognosis related to ODD are without proper help from professionals may experience rejection from poor social skills and aggressive/annoying behavior. Individuals diagnosed with ODD also have an increased risk to develop a behavior disorder known as conduct disorder.
Common Co-Occurring Conditions: Some of the most common co-occurring conditions are Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, depression, anxiety disorders and learning disabilities.
