Voices in a person’s head, sounds coming out of nowhere and visual hallucinations means that they have what is called schizophrenia (Schizophrenia, 2015). According to scientists it’s a disease and there is no cure to stop the voices and visuals (WebMD, n.d.). Schizophrenics believe that people are trying to harm them, read their mind and control their thoughts. Schizophrenia is a mental disease in which reality emerges as confusing. Schizophrenia most often appears in late minority or early adulthood. Nevertheless, it can actually strike at any time. There are five sub-types of schizophrenia (paranoid, catatonic, disorganized, undifferentiated, and residual) so symptoms may differ between them (Mercola.com, n.d.). There are negative, positive, and cognitive symptoms that are different with each individual (Schizophrenia, 2015). There are different treatments available. From what scientists say the causes of schizophrenia are genes, environment, brain chemistry and structure (MHA, n.d.) (Schizophrenia, 2015). Schizophrenia breaks down the emotions, thoughts, and behavior (Schizophrenia An Overview, 2015). Schizophrenics have a brain disorder that affects how they function. Schizophrenia is a long term disease. Historically the disease was not understood in ancient times. It was originally classified as early dementia.
