Lupus is a long-lasting inflammatory disease that strikes when the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues and organs. The inflammation that is caused by this disease affects multiple systems of the body- including your skin, blood cells, kidney, brain, heart and lungs. There are multiple forms and types of lupus, no two cases are the same. Studies show that lupus results from a mixture of your genetics, hormones, and climate. There are certain potential triggers such as sunlight, infections, and medications. However, the cause for lupus is still unknown.
Symptoms and signs may develop thought a life span or very rapidly. The severity and length of the symptoms fluctuates as well. The most distinctive sign of lupus is a facial rash unfolding across both cheeks like a butterfly’s wing. Other common signs would include: Joint pain, fatigue, fever, skin lesions that worsen with sun exposure, chest pain, dry eyes, headaches, and fingers/toes that change colors while under stress.

The most common infections that people get include: UTI, respiratory infection, and yeast infection. Another complication that comes with lupus would be the death of bone tissue. This happens when the blood supply to the bone degrades immensely and leads to the breakage of the bone. This makes it hard for most with this disease to maintain normally active lifestyle.
