Notre Dame Concussion Research Paper

Concussions have always been around, though undiagnosed until recently. They have caused much damage to the human brain. One could receive a concussion through sports, falls, rapid motions, head wounds, and even car accidents. Even children could easily receive concussions when they fall while playing. Over one million people suffer from traumatic brain injuries every year. One hard blow to the head could cause a concussion, however, many people do not realize that even repeatedly getting hit in a minor form can cause one also. A single hit is enough to cause damage for a lifetime, or even cause an individual to lose their life. Concussions have many symptoms. These consist of headaches or pressure in the head, vomiting, dizziness, blurry vision, sensitive to light and noise, sluggish feeling, struggling to pay attention, confusion, excessive fatigue, abnormal sleepiness, constant ringing in the ears, nausea, lack of coordination, and memory problems. One could have all of these symptoms to only one or two. If someone experiences these symptoms right after receiving a hit to their head, or a couple days later, they need to find medical help as soon as possible, otherwise the symptoms could prove to be fatal to the individual’s life.
