What is Bipolar Disorder? It is also called "Manic Depression". Bipolar Disorder is a disorder associated with plenty episodes of mood swings ranging from depressing lows and manic highs. This disorder can not be cured but some treatments may help and calm it down. It is very chronic and can last for years and be life long. You have to go to the doctor and it requires a medical diagnosis. People tend to diagnose themselves with Bipolar Disorder. This does not require any lab test or imaging. Bipolar Disorder has two phases. Manic Phase and Depressive Phase. A manic phase can last week or even months and a depressive phase can last weeks or even many months.

The person diagnosed with the disorder is not to blame for the illness that has came upon them. Learn more about the disorder so you know what you are dealing with, there are many books, articles and magazines you can read. Listen too what the person says at all times. Listen to all of there feelings and emotions. Encourage them to stay steady with there medications and treatments. Stay by there side no matter what they say or what they are going thru. It may not seem like it but they need you the most.
