It comes with worry, sleepless nights, panic attacks, change in appetite, headaches, and many other effects. I remember when I had my first panic attack; it was one of the scariest things that I had ever experienced. It starts with the feeling of a huge weight on my chest, I started breathing too hard because I could not breathe, my chest started to hurt, and that caused me to panic more because it scared me. When panic attacks occur people keep telling you to calm down or quit overreacting. What they do not realize is that saying those things makes it worse. Others who do not have anxiety do not know how it actually feels to be stressed out on a different level. They do not understand that there is no overreacting or dramatizing; what is seen is not controllable. What they see is the reality. There is no watering it down. It appears to be dramatic at times because in everyday life anxiety is hidden and kept a secret. It drowns the mind but does not come to the outside. When the mind gets so full and almost drowned to death is when it finally comes out. All it takes is one thing to trigger an attack. It takes one thing to set someone off. In the meantime, she keeps her mind closed, set apart from the world outside. There is not much you can do about anxiety, unless you go get put on medication.
