Symphony Orchestra Concert Report Sample

I attended the Symphony Orchestra Concert on March 10, 2017 at 7:30 PM in the SJSU Music Concert Hall. It was conducted by Yair Samet, and featured a solo performance by Dr. Sarah Jones. The SJSU Symphony Orchestra performed Mozart’s Impresario Overture, his Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 in C Major. The piece that I will be focusing on is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, particularly the fourth movement. During the actual concert, it was very interesting hearing the fourth movement, as we had been focusing on it so much in class. Hearing it live was a significantly different experience. The whole symphony was in front of me, and I could feel the air moving as their instruments sounded together to produce the melodies that Beethoven himself wrote out. It was very familiar hearing the slowly ascending scale at the beginning of the fourth movement, but also very different. It was unlike any time I had listened to the fourth movement. When listening to the movement through headphones or speakers, it seems rather dull for me. It just sounds like typical “classical music.” On the other hand, listening to the piece performed live was a completely different experience, I was able to hear the double-basses and the percussion clearly, which I could not in the recordings. There was much more depth …show more content…
The last time I was able to see a classical music concert was when I was still young, so I did not have a deep understanding of what was going on and what I was hearing. But as I have grown personally as a musician, and through the knowledge that I gained through this class, I was able to experience the concert in its fullness. For as small as the symphony was, the performance itself was enjoyable, and the fact that there was not a huge amount of people there made attending a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience. I will definitely be attending more concerts here in my free

On Friday, July 10th, the local instrumental jazz group Yuma Jazz Company played at Lutes Casino for a couple of hours. The instrumentation was fairly standard for a jazz group, with trumpet, saxophone, guitar, double bass, and drums (I believe those were electric). The guitar and bass, along with the drums, served as a sort of basso continuo, generally backing the horns, but occasionally taking up the melody for themselves, resulting in a texture that was thinly polyphonic. Also noticeable was the “fabulous light up tip jar,” a colorful accompaniment to their music. The concert ran from 7 to 9 PM, so I went in not only with the intention of listening to the group but also with a good meal in mind.…

I loved the last piece in the third movement because it was played very well and it is an iconic piece. I had different emotions for the individual pieces were I felt at ease, delighted, and anxious with a dynamic feeling when the pieces go fast paced. This time I remembered the fast parts since I expected than the other first concert. The most memorable was Moonlight, presto movement. For the chamber groups they projected a playful vibe between each other enjoying when it alternates to one another.…

Overall I expected it to be a great performance, and it is safe to say my expectations were met. There was a lot of kids, and babies in attendance which I didn’t expect at all. The performance put on by the Orchestra was great. When the director of the orchestra entered the stage everyone in the audience gave him an applause as he starts to greet the audience, and talk about the performance. The projector behind the performers had videos, and drawings displayed that was turned into amination, and it brought the drawings to life while making the story more entertaining.…

The concert that I attended was the Redlands Community Orchestra at Redlands High School Clock Auditorium. The orchestra consisted of three pieces which were Fanfare to the Common Man by Aaron Copland, Les Preludes by Franz Liszt, and Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67 by Ludwig van Beethoven. These pieces are capturing pieces of art and history that surpass time and yet are still know in this modern era. The composers were well known artist that created a kind of movement in music history and became well known for their incredible pieces and symphony’s.…

It’s not typical for a teenager like myself to be caught watching a symphony. Due to this well-known stereotype, I was skeptical when I attended the Symphony of the Americas concert in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. However, much to my surprise I was entranced by the alluring symphony and atmosphere. The performance, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, paid tribute to both Italian and Hispanic composers by featuring music by Gioachino Rossini, Arturo Marquez, Gaetano Donizetti, and the legendary Ernesto Lecuona.…

I do not think any words could have truly described how I nor the rest of the audience felt during that performance. The opinions and analogies of the pieces found in the program notes did slightly influence me. I agreed with and understood most opinions and comments of the performances. The listenings I did for my pre-concert assignment were not nearly the same thing as being in the auditorium. It was a completely different experience to see, hear and feel the performance in person as opposed to watching a video on a screen and trying to listen to the depth of the orchestra through…

On Sunday June 12th, I attended the Oklahoma Community Orchestra Concert. This event took place at the Oklahoma Christian University Pavilion. The Concert started at 7:30pm and it was free for everyone.this was my first concert in a long time, since middle school. I got there exactly at 7:30pm, which made it hard for me to get a seat and a clear view of the concert. There were a lot of people there which meant that this was going to be a very good concert.…

I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy it or not. As soon as the first song played, titled “Miss Fine” by Oliver Nelson I knew I was in for a good treat! As the concert progressed I began to associate a lot of things going on with the information that I had learned about in class, for example, the call and response and improvisation. One main object I did learn about in class and was very obvious for me at the concert was the mutes…

It is great that we are showing music through social media to help people broaden their look on music. This symphony seemed like they were made to play with each other. The made very few mistakes and you could actually feel something about the music. The musicians made you feel as passionate as them about the music. At the beginning I got excited for the concert because of all the media they show on the ceiling and walls.…

Caprice sur les grands jeux composed by Louis-Nicholas Clerambault. I really enjoyed this performance because of the powerful intensity of the notes. The dynamics would change frequently from solft to loud music. Since it was a Recital, meaning a solo concert with or without an accompaniment, but in this case Guenette was playing the organ, I cannot comment if he was playing in tune or not since he was to only performer on stage and I was not familiar with the piece therefore, I would not have known if he was playing in tune.…

At the concert, I was a perspective listener. The perspective listener is a combination of all of the listener types. A perspective listener enjoys the sound of the music but is also critically aware of how it makes them feel and why and it also makes associations with the music whether it being from a feeling or a memory. Going to the concert I was listening with great concentration, trying to hear every aspect of the piece.…

The Curtis Chamber Orchestra, played Violin Concerto No.1, No.3, and No 5. All three musical pieces consisted of unique characteristics, but I must say my favorite and the most memorable one is, Concerto No.1 in B-flat major, K. 207 with Hsuan- Hao Hsu on the violin. The downbeat, instantly caught the audience’s attention, bringing focus to the tempo and to its upbeat and joyful theme. It has a very charming and soothing sound to it, that creates more excitement, leaving the audience wanting more.…
