Humankind is corrupt. There is no doubt about that. We drink, smoke, party, and make bad choices. There's war, genocide, murder, and countless other monstrosities that are committed by humans and all for different reasons. It might be political, religious, or it may just be because they want to have fun. Whatever the reason, there is corruption in this world. They do only on thing. They do what they are programmed to do. This is the cause of the next line. Hedges and Sacco begin the chapter, Days of Destruction, with Larry Gibson who explains his childhood living on the mountain. He describes what his life was like then and now, showing that the land is barely recognizable. The land that his family once owned, went from 500 acres to 50. I feel like this relates to many properties in Michigan today. Trees, houses, and land are often torn apart to make room for something new, similar to what Gibson describes happened to the cemetery adjacent to his house.…

I think power does corrupt. Have you ever felt like someone is controlling your life. So you couldn't take charge of anything that goes on in your own life, and nothing can be done about it. Power does corrupt because when some people have a power they take advantage of it and they make sure that what they want happens and no one can change it. In the story ‘‘ Animal Farm’’ when Major dies the two pigs Napoleon and Snowball took over the farm when they kicked out Jones (the farmer).…

The health of society is greatly affected by the power of the government. When that power is too weak, the government cannot do its job, but when it is too strong, the leaders may abuse their power and oppress the citizens. In a perfect world citizens would monitor the actions of their government to prevent abuses of power. However, we all born to be free and every one is equal. As Thomas Paine argues in his “Common sense” that we should have control in government, instead of let them to control us.…

The Two Faces of a Political Coin A society depends greatly on the person who is leading it. If a leader is just and morally sound, his/her society prospers and flourishes. However, if a leader is corrupt and abuses his/her power, the society inevitably falls into turmoil and disaster. Suzanne Collins represents this through Katniss Everdeen, as she demonstrates through Katniss’s inner thoughts why President Alma Coin is eliminated and not given the chance to become leader of Panem. In Mockingjay, Katniss decides to kill President Coin because of her distrust towards Coin, their differing values, and Coin’s similarity to President Snow.…

Such is the hope for the anarchists, to create a destructive force-explosion, in order to create a new form of hierarchy. The terrorists believe that they can reach equality in their society through harmful acts, as it will disrupt the balance of the hierarchy.
