Introduction So many organizations are being run by someone who is elected or chosen committee but the committee that I attended is called Symphony Culture Committee. "Committee meetings are essential to the successful functioning of the committee and capacity to convey its role. They represent the method by which the committee exercise its connective authority for guiding the organization" (Dickerson, 2010, p. 52). With this paper, the writer is going to confirm the attendees in the committee meeting, talk about the purpose of the committee including the role of the people attending the meeting, furthermore, the writer is going to assess the interactions among the team members of the committee and evaluate if the decision procedure that …show more content…
Representation is based on the size of each department and include seven to nine members (lined staff). The committee reflects diverse experience for example three CNAs, one Nurse, one person from the management, one each Dietary and Housekeeping. It includes representative from all shifts. There are elected members such as the president, vice president, and secretary. Members must be in good standing with residents, families and co-workers, someone with commitment to Symphony and its core values, to be a member, the individual would have being an employee with the facility for at least six months, dedicated to the changing culture of the building, with positive attitude and open minded only. purpose of the committee
"The primary function of a committee is to contribute to the efficient operation of an organization" ((BPAA, 2016). The purpose of the Symphony committee meeting is to reinforce the perception and fact that Symphony values its employees, address and often prevent staffing issues and promote patient satisfaction, improve communication among staff members, enhance recognition programs and opportunities, maintain market competitiveness, and build a strong sense of pride in the facility. There was effective communication and collaborative discussion, each member was allowed 10 minutes to express his or her opinion with equal opportunity, and identify the top two or three issues effecting staffing and patient satisfaction. I am a floor nurse in this facility but I decided to be one of the attending today to observe the interactions of the members and the method used by the committee to come to conclusion. "Communications at all levels of the organization is critical to maintaining the shared governance process and also offers a venue for a consistent" (Burkman, Karen. Sellers, Rowder, Batcheller, 2012). The committee demonstrated willingness to listen without interruption on the staffing issues and employee satisfaction, each employee presented its solution, each speech handled with respect, The secretary compiled all solutions proposed by the committee, the committee decision was consensus after much discussion, questions, and debate with the impact of each solution discussed, attention paid to cost effectiveness, it fits into the Symphony core values, and how it would affect our patients, selecting the best solution, questions asked, vote taking with a unanimous consensus, solution presented to the administrator for approval such as increase in wages and high recognition of name in
