As you can see, the main character, Akhilleues, doesn't show much weak attributes since he is considered as a great warrior. We can tell that with the presence and absence of sympathy, we can tell what kind of person is the certain character.
It can show whether the character that portrays a sense of sympathy to other characters and wether he or she will be able to solve this certain kind of conflict

Finally, is when Akhilleus prayed to his mother Thetis to help him with the conflict that is going on around him. Then, Thetis replies to his son with such emotion. In the line, "Oh early death! Oh broken heart! No destiny so cruel! And I bore you to this report evil!" (Book one, 481-482), shows the sadness and sympathy of Thetis to her son, Akhilkeues. It also shows a mother's love for her son. At the end, Thetis agrees to talk to Zeus about taking Akhilleus' side and helping him with the conflict.

Similar to several other stories, the epic poem ‘Odyssey’ written by Homer uses the different archetypes to describe the characters that take part in the mythology. The Swiss psychologist Carl Jung had named and defined the twelve different archetypes, that were most commonly used in the history of literature and can still be found in tools of entertainment of all culture, for instance, in movies, books or plays. Examples of archetypes can be repeatedly found in chapters of the epic poem. For instance, in the chapter where the protagonist Odysseus faces the fearsome cyclop Polyphemus, Odysseus can be identified as the hero. The hero is the one who shows courage in challenging situations, who seeks ways to improve the world and who strives to be strong and fears to be weak.…

A character in a book is a representation of a human, a real human, a human with emotions. Whilst reading a book, one should feel how the characters are feeling as though they were a fellow human. An invaluable tool used by author to do this is sympathy. An author uses sympathy to get the reader to feel the emotions of the character, to understand the emotions. In stories filled with tough topics, such as it is in John Grisham’s Calico Joe, it is important to try to get the reader to feel sympathy because otherwise, the reader may feel detached from and uninterested in a story.…

They are confined to outdated gender roles; mortal women have little or no control over their own destiny. However, the immortal world creates a platform for Homer to exemplify and examine women personas thorough the Olympian goddesses. The three main goddesses presented in The Iliad are Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera. During the Trojan War, Athena and Hera fight with the Achaeans, while Aphrodite favors the Trojans.…

Agamemnon feels false his claims to have trusted the gods who all along had the destruction of Troy in mind. “First, it is right that I address Argos and the gods of this land-my allies who helped me exact justice from Priam’s city and return home safely”(Meineck, 32). The Greek commander is showing his gratitude to the gods whom at one point he questioned during the actual battle of Troy. He seems to only be thanking them because he was victorious and worked in his favor. He also discredits the very men that fought alongside in him the Trojan war.…
