Symbols In The Maze Runner

Symbols are objects or people within a story that represent something greater. In The Maze Runner, some of the main symbols are the Box and the Cliff. The Box is what brings new people to the Glade. It also provides the necessary supplies to keep them all alive. The Box represents the womb and birth. When the Gladers come out of the Box they are beginning a new life in the Glade like they are being born again. The Box is their continual life source. This is similar to the way a mother is the continual life source to a child even after the child is born.
The Cliff represents obstacles in life that one must overcome even though he or she is unsure of what the outcome will be. For the Gladers, the Cliff is their only hope of escaping the
